A Herd of Puppies (episode 28)

This week, Lindsay is happy to be back walking again! She and Logan talk about the interesting people they've met since we last talked, the pleasures of getting a haircut, and what it's like to run into fans of one's Youtube channel.

The Curse of Arches National Park (episode 27)

In this short episode, Lindsay and Logan rent a car so they can quickly visit a bunch of national parks and monuments, Cynthiana the dog gets to spend some quality time at a gas station, and Lindsay falls into a ravine. (She got better.)

Take It Easy (episode 26)

This week, Lindsay and Logan continue walking through Arizona, and they address an important question: What's the biggest threat on a cross-country walk: mountain lions, human beings, or rotisserie chicken?

We Can See The Mountains (episode 25)

When last we talked to Lindsay, she was just about to meet another cross-country walker, Logan Mayberry, and start traveling with him. This week, she talks about adjusting to traveling with another person, and we meet Logan and find out some of his story. Lindsay and Logan have also experienced snow, 80 degree weather, and spiders. There's a lot going on!

Friends and Family (episode 24)

This week, Lindsay meets up with family and goes to a graduation party, plans meeting up with another cross-country walker (Logan Mayberry), heeds warnings about walking through Death Valley, and considers the question of down time on the road.

Shut Up and Be Nice (episode 23)

This week, Lindsay crossed the border into New Mexico, entering her ninth state and third time zone! She also encountered some bad water, met a truck driver's dog, and stepped on something unfortunate. We also address a question about hats, and give some advice about dealing with customer service folks.

Even If You Win, You Lose (episode 22)

This week, Lindsay checks in from Amarillo, Texas, where she is preparing to forge on to Albuquerque, New Mexico, about 300 miles away. It might take a little while to walk there.

Since the last time we talked, she's gotten tips on stealth camping from another long-distance walker, experimented with Facebook Live, and visited a Cadillac graveyard. We talked about those and other adventures, and we also discovered that we have remarkably similar advice to give to people contemplating entering a food-eating contest or engaging of street harassment of women: Don't.

Entering Texas (episode 21)

This was recorded the morning after Lindsay crossed the Texas border! She broadcast the crossing via Facebook Live -- you can see the resulting video at https://www.facebook.com/monroelindsay/videos/10200145935833618/ .

She also met and walked with another cross-country hiker -- Donald Akins, an ex-Marine who is carrying a large cross to the west coast.  In this episode, she talks about that, the further adventures of Cynthiana the dog, and the unexpected link between hikers and truckers, among other things.  She also addresses a frequently asked question: How many pairs of shoes has she gone through?

Tornado Warnings and Fake Blood (episode 20)

This week, Lindsay makes it to Elk City, Oklahoma, despite a broken-down car, a close encounter with the sidewalk, the temptations of a local dive bar, and a sometimes smelly canine companion. Lindsay and Jake also have an argument over whether Lindsay can appropriately describe herself as a 'pampered hiker'.

Canine Jailbreaks and Flesh-Eating Beetles (episode 19)

This week in Oklahoma, Lindsay sees some familiar faces, goes to a bone museum, and considers how best to cross a desert, while Cynthiana the dog indulges her destructive side.

Serve and Protect (episode 18)

This week, Lindsay has an argument with the police, finds help (and employment) at a bar, and talks to some teens; Cynthiana the dog has (and fails to enjoy) her first real bath; and a couple of kids jump into the phone call to talk about their experiences hanging out with Lindsay!

Shoulder Pain and 4% Beer (episode 17)

This week, Lindsay is in Oklahoma, her seventh state! She also does some market research at some breweries, helps out at a school, learns some of Cynthiana the dog's quirks, has an unfortunate run-in with a cattle guard, and goes to the top of the tallest hill in the world!

Dog talk in Fort Smith (episode 16)

This week, Lindsay hangs out with some cool ladies, gets to know Cynthiana the dog better, and takes care of a little business.

Dogs and Wine (episode 15)

This week in Arkansas, Lindsay visited some vineyards and attracted some four-legged friends. The audio quality is a little rough at the beginning of the episode, but it clears up after a few minutes, so stick with it!

Confusing Teens at the Whatta-Burger (episode 14)

This week, Lindsay makes a perilous bridge crossing, chats with some young adults hiking in Petit Jean Park, goes to a baptism, and has a delicious hamburger in Russellville, Arkansas.

Football, Bad Cell Phone Service, and a Twisted Ankle (episode 13)

This week, Lindsay crosses into Arkansas, sprains her ankle (she's OK now), experiences watching the Super Bowl in a dry county, and resolves to swear less.

Religion, Juke Joints, and Dumplings (episode 12)

This episode begins with a strong denunciation of Donald Trump, and Lindsay then moves on to describe her adventures for the week, which include a religious discussion in a Mississippi fire house, an inspirational talk from a 97-year-old juke joint proprietor, some great food, a walk from Mississippi to Graceland, and a blessing from Pastor Al Green in his church in Memphis. She also clarifies an important point about Glen, Mississippi.

Muscle Shoals (episode 11)

This week, Lindsay experiences some more cart-related frustrations, tries frogs legs (👎) and hush puppies (👍) for the first time, does some sightseeing around Muscle Shoals (we recommend the excellent documentary of the same name, about the legendary music studios in the area; it's currently available for streaming on Netflix, among other places), is teased for not smelling bad enough, and becomes 'Facebook official' with Tim. We also talk about dealing with political conversations on Facebook.
